Alnico Magnets
Description
The alnico magnets (AlNiCo) are produced from an alloy of aluminum, nickel, cobalt and iron - the different combinations of these elements and the addition of other elements provide the magnetic and physical characteristics of the various degrees of Alnico magnets.
Quite used in the industrial sector, thanks to its properties and its resistance to high temperatures. They have good stability in extreme temperatures. Another great advantage is the resistance to chemicals, such as acids or solvents, and its good oxidation behavior.
Alnico magnets can be produced through two processes: casting or sintering. The casting process is used for larger and simpler shaped magnets. And the sintering process is used for small magnets and allows to obtain more complex shapes, with greater dimensional accuracy.
The alnico 2 alloy is not oriented and has isotropic properties in all directions.
The anisotropic alloys alnico 5, 6 and 8 have been developed to produce the best flow of energy in a given direction. This orientation is obtained during the heat treatment, through controlled cooling under a magnetic field in the specified direction of magnetization.
The working temperature is the most significant feature of this type of magnet. They have great stability at extreme temperatures, conserving all their magnetic characteristics in a range of very extensive temperatures ranging from -250ºC to 425ºC, reaching a Curie point of 850ºC.
Being one of the first magnetic materials to be developed and having wide commercial use and even today, the stability of its magnetic properties under different temperature conditions makes them used in instruments and devices that require high thermal stability.
Our portfolio has a multitude of shapes, measures and magnetic forces in different alloys: alnico 2, alnico 5, alnico 5/7, alnico 6, alnico 8.
At Brasil Magnets you will find alnico magnets available in several types of shapes and sizes that will suit you in whatever you need! Consult our specialists.
